Bottle 1448 - Eiffel Tower in a Bottle
Date Added: 04 September 2020

The Eiffel Tower is the most famous monument in Paris, known throughout the world as a symbol of the city itself and of France. The Tower was officially opened to the public at 11:50 am on May 15, 1889, nine days after the start of the Universal Exposition of Paris: Exactly two years, four months and seven days had passed since the foundations were first laid. The model I used for this bottle was bought on the occasion of a vacation in Paris. It is made of an aluminum alloy. I dissected it into several parts to make it pass through the hole. The 6mm plywood base consists of 3 pieces, and is covered and stuccoed in motion to imitate the "pavè", in the four corners the relative "pillars" that support the structure fit together. The old one-liter "container" I used was used in the old taverns (now Caffe or Bar) and must have served many customers judging by its imperfect transparency. The base was built inside the bottle and the model was assembled in stages. I then made a round bamboo base for the final display.
