Bottle 250 - Mayflower II |
---|
Date Added: 01 October 2005
This is an incredible model of the Mayflower II ship in a bottle. This ship was built using the meticulous detail found in professional static whole hull models in museums and private collections. It was made shortly after the voyage of the Mayflower II to the United States in April 1957. Plaque reads: "The Mayflower II, built in Brixham, England. Sailed from Plymouth England to Plymouth, Massachusetts by Captain Villiers in April 1957 - a gift from people of Great Britain to people of the United States as an Anglo-American gesture of friendship. Mayflower II is berthed permanently at Plymouth Plantation in Plymouth, Massachusetts." The bottle is an unidentified one gallon bottle with handle with a coin with the Mayflower ship image glued to the blue cap. The bottle is "rigged" to a wooden base with blocks and tackle holding it in place.
