Bottle - Religious Shrine or Altar in a Bottle
Date Added: 19 October 2016

This is a wonderful church altar or shrine scene built in a very early hand blown bottle with pronounced pontil. The wooden pieces are covered in a decorative paper and gold leaf or foil materials. On the floor of the altar there are several pots and vases with a variety of colorful potted plants. There is a raised altar in the background covered in a gold material. There are two candle holders on the altar and a large mural-like painting of possibly St. Anthony and the Divine child. On each side of the altar are large posts with red lanterns on top of each. On each corner of the floor are tall carved decorative posts with gold covered arches connecting the posts. There are white tassels on top of each post. The bottle is sealed with a long decoratively carved wooden stopper with a white tassel on the end inside the bottle. A rounded wooden top is outside the bottle.
