Bottle 418 - Cross and Tools
Date Added: 15 February 2006

This is a bottle with a cross and several tools built inside. The cross and all the other objects in the bottle are made from wood. The cross is built so that the cross arm extends from corner to corner in the bottle. The cross sits on an "X" base with the ends going into the corners. There is a large shovel carved from one piece of wood with a long spade end and a carved handle. The shovel is secured to the cross arm with a nail. On the other side, also secured with a nail is an unidentified long slat of wood with a hole near the end cut out.. There is a ladder with 4 rungs. On the back side of the cross and mounted to the base is a long pole with a trough-like shape end . There is a long pole with what appears to be a hoe on the end. On the base is a wooden trowel. Finally the is a large pick axe on a long pole. Most of the tools seem to be identified with those found in masonry work. Several of the pieces are loose in the bottle and the bottle must be restored. The bottle does not have a cap or stopper.
