This is a war scene showing a battle cruiser sailing toward a German U-boat in a diving position. The ships are from World War II era. The cruiser in painted in navy gray colors and has a natural colored deck. It has fabulous detail with smoke coming out of the guns. Flags fly from the single mast mid-ship. It is set on a choppy sea and you can see the U-Boat half sinking. It may have been made in relation to an actual sinking. There are 4 main guns shown and fire is shown coming from the guns on the bow of the ship as it fires on a diving U-boat. H56 is painted on the bow of the ship. The U-boat has U7 on the tower of the sub. Unterseeboot 7 or U-7 was a Nazi German U-boat based out of Kiel during World War II. It was one of the smaller versions, and was first launched on June 29, 1935 with a crew of 29. During the war U-7 sank two vessels: The British 2,694 ton Akenside, on September 22nd, 1939, and the Norwegian 1,830 ton Takstaas, on September 29th, 1939. On February 18th, 1944, west of Pillau, U-7 sank in what is believed to have been a malfunction during a diving maneuver. There were no survivors.
