Bottle 1098 - USS Tulare - AKA112
Date Added: 01 November 2013

This is the AKA-112 USS Tulare the ship my father served on during the Viet Nam war. This model was built for my dad in honor of his service. This depicts the Tulare sailing into bad on the day of the Tet Offensive with all her landing craft and cranes stowed for port. In the sphere of the decanter is the LCM (Landing Craft Mechanized) that my father piloted into the rivers of Viet Nam transporting and picking up Marines, SEaLs, and Soldiers on their river patrols. The Tulare was built in sections, the stowed landing craft, crane booms, and conning tower all assembled in the bottle.
