Bottle 452 - Jesus and Angels
Date Added: 30 December 2006

This is a very colorful and attractive scene of the crucifixion surrounded by numerous religious symbols built in an old two mold bottle. The figure of Jesus is cut out from an old black and white Holy Card. Along side each of Jesus' arms are small angel cut outs from Holy Cards. Above Jesus' head is a cut out of a little girl in a nearly seated position and is dressed in a colorful folk-like attire. At the feet of Jesus is a young angel in a red gown with wings. She is folding her hands in prayer. The cross is mad from natural wood and is decoratively carved with grooves up and down the cross and across the cross arm. The cross sits on a single carved base piece that has grooves on the front and back. The grooves on the front and deep cut and nearly straight. The grooves on the back are pointed on the top and are carved at an angle. There are two long poles mounted on the base on each side of Jesus. They are decoratively carved and probably represent the spear and the sponge. Also mounted on the base is a mallet, pliers, flail with a blue thread rope, and three wooden spikes. On each end of the base are two "trees" that are carved to create the shape and the foliage of the tree. Along the base is some foliage. The bottle is sealed with a small cork.
