Bottle 976 - Penn Tennis Ball and Goldact Lock
Date Added: 17 March 2012

From the Artist, Chris Wood. "While living in Haiti finishing our adoption, materials and tools are limited and our airline does not allow glass bottles, so I have to get creative when I want to build but not make anything that would bring me to tears to not be able to take home. Everything here was bought & put together in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The Penn 4 tennis ball was not brand new, as I bought it from a street vendor. Impossible Bottle of real cast iron lock with actual key in it (not glued) & key on original ring put through a tennis ball. The opening is significantly smaller than the tennis ball and before, you think it, NO, you can't just stuff a tennis ball down into a bottle as it doesn't give as much as you think. Go try it if you don't believe me. The ball does not come out and is only able to move a little from where it is in the bottom. The key ring was NOT put into the tennis ball outside but after it was inside. The key was NOT in the lock before the lock was placed inside, but afterwards. The key is not glued in and if you unscrew the cap and pull, it will come out. Two holes were drilled into the metal cap so the lock could go through, but the lock was NOT taken apart, so study it and see if you can figure out how the lock was put through the cap. The lock is a GOLDACT (but could be BOLDACT) 4505. The key originally said MADE IN CHINA, but I removed the China and etched into it MADE IN HAITI and blackened it with permanent marker. On the other side, I etched and blackened CHRIS WOOD 2012. It is in a Helios Salsa Sauce bottle measuring 6 3/8" tall by 2 7/8" at its widest. The opening is about 1 7/8" and the tennis ball is about 2 5/8" wide."
