Bottle 831 - 12 Dec 1916 |
---|
Date Added: 30 August 2010
Date: 1916. Maker: Unknown Date: 1916 Origin: Germany. Handwritten paper plate inside bottle identifies name of maker (unintelligible), and states that he (the maker of this ship in bottle) was a German sailor aboard torpedo boat c. 175, "12 Dec. 1916." Interesting "companion" to Bottle No. 830 made by an English sailor in 1916, in the Arctic Ocean. Who is to say these two ships didn't fire on each other during WW I? Diorama contains eight highly detailed German style buildings, including windmill, lighthouse, and vegetation. Two severely faded German flags aboard. From the collection of R Michael Owens (Rmyklo)
