Bottle 334 - Chinese Junk
Date Added: 01 October 2005

This is a very well made model of a Chinese Junk in a light green bottle. The Junk sails on a very choppy sea of blue. The lower half of the hull is painted white and the upper section is painted black. There are 8 gun ports painted in white on the hull. Each side of the bow has an anchor suspended and there are red pole rails extended from the bow to just under and in front of the bowsprit. A large rudder is on the stern. There are red bulwarks and a red raised upper deck on the stern portion of the Junk. This deck has natural colored rails with gray beads used as spokes in the railing. There is a red cabin on the deck with a curved white roof covering the cabin. The main deck has stacked wood over most of the deck. To the bow end of the deck is a life boat showing the planking and seats. The Junk has 3 masts and the traditional ribbed sails found on a Chinese Junk made from cloth. The main sail is off white and the other two sails are light brown or tan. The rigging is very detailed and accurately done. Small black beads are used to emulate blocks. The bottle is sealed with a cork and id covered with a red coating. The bottle is glued to a well made wood base. Under the bottle is a label with the following typed on it: "Expediteur: (Skipper) Craquelin André 19, (unreadable) de Ville d'Avray 92310 SEVERES (FRANCE)" This bottle was made by André CRAQUELIN, who was president of the French Association.
