Ships, Folk Art, and Whimsey in Bottles

This is a model of a chair built in a Karol syrup bottle. The chair has an interwoven seat made from cream and red yarn. The body of the chair is made from spindles and fills the bottle from side to side. It is sealed with a 5 1/2" wooden shaft with the top 3" carved in an octagonal shape. The shaft has a wooden cross piece making it tamper proof. This bottle was made by Jesse Jackson from the Renfro Valley, Mt Vernon area in Kentucky along I-75, exit 62. Mr. Jackson was a double amputee who made these bottles at the Rock Castle Steak House, located at Renfro Valley and Mt. Vernon interchange off I-75. Travelers bought these bottles as souvenirs. He has appeared in a postcard with his bottles. 0
