Bottle 1438 - Wheel Mill in a Bottle
Date Added: 24 March 2020

Wheel Mill in a Bottle is the newest bottle by Aidano Dallafiora. It is built in an old 5 liter container used for acids. 40 separate pieces were used to make this model. The model was made fully outside the bottle and then disassembled so the individual pieces could be inserted and reassembled inside the bottle. The base is fixed on a flat support before being glued to the bottom of the bottle. The water mill uses the mechanical energy produced by the current of a stream. Its development goes back to the ninth century and used hydraulic energy instead of animals or humans. It allowed for an unprecedented increase in productivity in antiquity. To consider that the energy produced by each wheel of a water mill can grind 150 kg of wheat in an hour, equivalent to the work of 40 slaves. The water mill, as well as the windmill, was supplanted in the 18th century by the advent of the steam engine and subsequently by the electric motor.
