Bottle 1424 - Double Crane in a Bottle
Date Added: 01 November 2019

This Double Crane in a Bottle is a replica of Leonard da Vinci's design of a double crane in the 15th century. The model is made of a one-liter bottle with fir and walnut woods. In addition to working with height, it could rotate allowing rapid transfer of materials. The two arms of the cranes have above all the function of counterbalancing; while one part was loaded down (in the canal), the other discharged the material on the shore. At this point the platform turned to invert the position of the two arms and repeat the work. The double crane could also be moved over short lengths of the rollers. This technique allowed many channels that are in the plains of Italy to have been made.
