Bottle - Jesus and the Thieves in a Bottle
Date Added: 11 November 2018

This is a wonderful diorama of the crucifixion scene with Jesus and the two thieves hanging on crosses. All of the figures are carved with great detail. Jesus is shown with a crown of thorns, red loin cloth, and blood near his heart. Above His head is an I.N.R.I. banner. To the left of the banner is an open hand, and to the right is a roster. The two thieves have on black loin cloths. On the left base is a sponge on a long pole and a pair of piers. On right side is a spear on a long pole and a mallet. On the base in front of the crosses are a lantern on a pole, a chalice and three dice. On the base behind the crosses are crossed bones and a skull. A 10 rung ladder leans against the cross of Jesus. The bottle is sealed with a wooden stopper with a crosspiece going through it and curved to the shape of the bottle.
