Bottle 1244 - Tres Hombres in a Bottle

The schooner/brig Tres Hombres ia a professional sailing freight carrier. The purpose of this ship is to blow new life in the commercial sailing freight shipping. Besides the carrying of freight the ship is used for trainees (max 8) and there is place for some passengers and a crew of 5. In the hold the ship can carry 50 tons of cargo. The ship was built ïn Germany during WWII as "Kriegsfischkutter." From 2007 till 2009 she was transformed to sailing cargo ship, even the motor was then removed. The construction is a wooden shell on a steel frame. Since december 2009 the Tres Hombres is operational. Her first voyage went to Copenhagen to the Climat Summit. Since then the ship is operational between Europe, Atlantic islands, the Caribbean and America. Her first voyage with cargo send her from Den Helder to Haiti with an emergency relief cargo and a doctor Although the ship is registered in Free Town (Sierra Leone) her office is in Den Helder (Holland) . This ship in bottle took 60 hours to build and it is the 67th ship in bottle built by Henny Fransen.
