Date: 1916. Maker: Norman Harry, Leading Seaman, D.S.M. Country of Origin: Great Britain. This is an interesting ship in bottle which is believed to have been made "on board, at sea." Permanent stand with brass plate reads: "Made by Leading Seaman Norman Harry, D.S.M., H.M.S. Victorian, 10th Cruiser Squadron, Grand Fleet, Arctic Ocean, Oct. 1916. Historical context: World War I. It's conceivable (possible) that H.M.S. Victorian was engaged in hostilities with the torpedo boat on which a ship in bottle was made by a German seaman that very same year (See Bottle No. 831) Standard green hued liquor bottle, 12 inches in length.
