Ship in an Edison Light Bulb
Date Added: 28 June 2026
This Ship in a Edison Light Bulb was built in 1922. It was a birthday gift to Lila from Billy. It contains a very detailed and well-proportioned Sailing Ship anchored in a Harbor. The ship is nicely rigged and flies banners atop each mast. One of the banners has "Lila" written on it. The American flag waves from the stern rigging. There are 20 structures in the city including a church. A well-detailed lighthouse is at the edge of the harbor and there is a signal mast flying the American flag and two other banners. The bulb is secured leaning at a slight angle to a wooden stand. Under the stand is written in pen with beautiful penmanship the following: May 28th 1922. "Birthday Greetings" To Lila Dear, In the years to come, when you have grown old and gray, Enjoying the comforts of a fireside bright, glance at this ship upon the bay, and remark, "Where is my wondering boy tonight." Always yours, Billy.
