Mercury in a Bottle

This is a model of the Brig "Mercury." The hull was fashioned from a solid piece of bass wood. It was planked with cut lines finished with stain and nail polish. The ship is highly detailed with channels, windows and gun ports, On the bow is the "Lady Mercury" holding the Caduceus in her left hand a symbol of being a guide to the dead. The ship has two masts and flies 7 sails and the Mercury crew flag from the main mast. There is both standing and running rigging with ratlines on the shrouds. The deck is the tiller, grates, and 12 guns. Mid-ship is the Jollywatt, a dart, and following the ship is the Gullah launch. The bottle is sealed with a corked cap and is identified with a lable that states: "The Mercury, based on Draughts by William Bland, Daniel Siemens 2013."
